Golden West Invitational: “Where Olympic Careers begin!” These 2016 USA Olympic Marathon Team USA members are all past GWI participants.
- Galen Rupp placed 4th in the 2002 GWI 3200m (8:58.11).
- Meb Keflezighi won the mile at the 1994 GWI (4:07.75).
- Amy Cragg (nèe Hastings) placed 7th in the 2002 GWI 3200m (10:38.52).
- Desiree Linden (nèe Davila) placed 7th in the 2000 GWI. 3200m (10:52.1) and was 2nd in the 2001 GWI Mile (4.54.93).
