GWI has, MOST UNFORTUNATELY, been cancelled.
In spite of Meet Director Bob Wright’s valiant efforts to keep the 61st Annual Golden West Invitational on the 2020 schedule, several insurmountable obstacles surfaced that made proceeding impossible and caused the final decision to cancel. All of us at GWI appreciate your ongoing support and we will look forward to 2021, when a kinder, healthier environment will allow us to resume the tradition. GWI is June 25-27; Info updated 5/13 with Complete Event Schedules
Hello everyone!
The Golden West dates are all set for June 25 – June 27.
The organizing committee is currently planning on having the meet with the understanding that the ultimate decision is contingent upon what the State’s guidelines for gathering and social distancing will look like in June.
We will of course adhere to whatever the State of California directs us to do, but we are also optimistic that the current guidelines will be updated to the degree that will allow our meet to happen.
NEW EVENTS FOR THIS YEAR: We are planning on having an OPEN and MASTERS competition in many running events and a few field events as well, to accommodate the many athletes whose season has been interrupted.
The High School/Youth and the Masters/Open Schedules are now posted!
We should be able to make an official decision by June 13th to allow for any last minute changes to travel plans to take place smoothly.
Continue to check this website for more details.
Registration is open through this CoachO link and will close on June 23.
Thank you and contact me if you have any questions.
